This is our story
We are Alex and Casey, and together, we started Hargrove Farms.
Hargrove Farms has been in my family for over 200 years, and it is a place that I’ve always felt a strong connection to. Growing up in Wilmington, NC, I took drives up to Tarboro from time to time, and my intrigue for the land and farming lifestyle deepened with each trip. I would muse over the stories from my grandmother, father, and uncles about their time growing up on the farm.
My intrigue developed direction around a decade ago, when what had started as a small scale experiment with growing mushrooms became a dream to plant a truffle orchard on our family farm. I wanted to build something with my own hands that would eventually give back to the small, rural town where my father was raised.
I met Casey in 2014, both making our way in her hometown of New York City, and we were both striving for something more. After hearing me talk endlessly about this farm dream for years, she encouraged me to quit talking about it, sit down, and develop a plan. The exact day we had that conversation was the day I started writing the Hargrove Farms business plan. From that moment on, my vision, direction, and passion finally had the steam behind it and the grit to push through to make this dream, our dream, a reality.
